Color therapy - Introduction

Saturday, June 11, 2016
Color therapy, also known as Chromo therapy, draws on the positive effects of colors to balance

the body’s energy centers or chakras.

Imbalance in the energy centers is thought to be the key

reason behind the manifestation of disease.

Imbalance, which could occur in the physical,

emotional, spiritual and mental levels, is rectified with color therapy.

The entire spectrum of colors is derived from sunlight. In the light spectrum, each color vibrates

at a different frequency. The vibrations of colors transmit energy, which is used to balance the

body’s energy centers or chakras.

Origin

This form of healing using colors was prevalent thousands of years ago and can be traced back to

Ancient Egypt and Greece. In India, ancient Indian scriptures, such as Atharvana Veda, speak of

color healing that occurs with the rays of the sun. Further, traditional Ayurveda affirms the

healing powers of colors.

The Energy of Color

Every cell in the body requires light energy. Nature itself is full of color. Therefore, it is no

surprise that we are drawn to color. Color is energy. The energy vibration of color is used to

enhance and balance the physical, emotional and spiritual state of a person.

Harmonious, soothing colors and color combinations are used to promote health and inner

harmony, key triggers for healing. The energy of color impacts our mood, health, and thought

process. When we heighten our awareness to the energy of color, it helps to transform our pattern

of health and well being. Importantly, the mood-enhancing properties of color help to improve

overall quality of life.

The goal of any form of healing therapy is to balance the energy centers.

Colors possess healing properties.

When our system is balanced, there is no disease.

The problem of imbalance can be addressed with the

application of color, which assists in restoring the balance.

Color interacts with the human energy system and brings about a balance in the physical,

emotional, mental and spiritual conditions.

This science of color therapy uses the various colors in the spectrum to maintain the

vibrations of the body at the required frequency, which brings about harmony and good health.

The way we think affects the electromagnetic field or aura of our body.

So, using colors to uplift our thinking induces a sense of well being

that restores equilibrium in the body.

As color is a vibratory energy, it can activate a particular organ, gland and system in the body.

Each organ has a specific color to activate it.

As colors are intelligent vibrations, the application of color on the electro magnetic field

rectifies the imbalance in the body, restoring it to the original pattern.

It is this energy of color that helps in the healing process.

The Practice of Color Therapy

Color treatments can be applied to the body in a number of ways to treat diseases.

The therapist is aware of the right color to be used to heal a patient.

Color gazing: Gazing at a blue light is known to lower blood pressure by calming the

autonomic nervous system, while red light increases blood pressure.

Proper use of colors help to heal ailments.

Colored glass panels, colored light bulbs are used to heal.

Patients are bathed in the light that gets filtered in.

People feel good within themselves by wearing colors that has a positive impact on their moods.

The use of pleasant colors in the surroundings also has a beneficial effect.

Solarised water is capable of energizing the body.

The Sun’s rays are made to pass through a colored glass bottle containing water,

for 6-8 hours. The energized water rejuvenates the body after consumption.

Color Visualization: This therapy helps us direct color energy to the body using visualization.

Colors can be visualized to instill a sense of well being.

Visualize yourself bathed in the colors you wish and

allow it to create a positive impact in your body.

Color Breathing: Color breathing exercises can be done in a ‘lying down’ or ‘sitting’ position.

Look at the colors that appeal to you.

Select the color that best appeals to you and visualize it entering your body.
